Population inequality and its impact on the region's socio-economic development

The article is written on the basis of the study of the population's inequality effect on economic and demographic indexes of the Vologda region in the period of 1997 – 2007. The authors carried out a statistical evaluation of the effect of normal and excessive inequality in gross domestic product and indicators of mortality and fertility. The economic and social losses from the population's inequality in the region are identified
